I’ve had a great time creating and sharing this comic strip for the last 2 years, and I cannot express how thankful I am to those of you who have followed along with the characters and have given me tremendous support throughout this time. I am still waiting to hear from several of the major syndicates in regards to major distribution of the Bric-a-Brats comic strip, so let’s all keep our fingers crossed. For the past couple years, while doing the strip, I have been putting things off to make sure I make my deadline with the newspaper and websites that currently publish the strip, and I’ve also had additional responsibilities come my way as well. That being said, I have decided to place the Bric-a-Brats comics on hiatus ……..indefinately. In addition to catching up on some of my family and personal responsibilites I have decided to take this time to also pursue an illustration opportunity that has come my way, one that I’ve been unable to get started with everything else going on in life.

As soon as I feel able, I will resume creating Bric-a-Brats comics not only because I love doing it, but because from what I’ve heard from you, the fans, it’s brought many of you some laughs, some joy and some memories and that makes it all worthwhile. Until then, the website will remain active and you can enjoy the first 100 comic strips over and over again by visiting the comic strip archives.

Thank you for all your support and I will be back with more Bric-a-Brats comics.

This one is dedicated to all the older brothers out there who have conned, tricked and taken advantage of their younger siblings innocence. You know who you are!! For example, let’s just say, theoretically of course, that an older brother might sell one of his possessions to a younger sibling, for a reasonable price, of course, and then somehow in the very near future that older brother regains possession of that item. That older brother may have a desire to say, re-sell that item over and over again to the same innocent, nieve, sweet younger sibling. This is all theoretical, as I said before, something like this would never have happened to say myself or anyone I know……of course. It’s kinda like this comic strip, where DJ tries to sell poor, sweet little Sam a Chamelion that is so good at hiding it’s virtually….Invisible!!!

Okay, here’s a perfect example of how kids listen to you and add other stuff to it when they tell it back to someone else; I’m having a conversation with my daughter about an aledged bug that is in her glass, she’s totally grossed out that there’s this bug in her glass as she was about to take a drink. As it turns out it was just a fleck of something, dirt, food, dust, whatever, anyway I tell her that when your asleep, if your mouth is open, bugs and spiders crawl into your mouth and you eat them without ever knowing it (this is a true fact by the way). So now she is completely horrified and I’m surprised she didn’t want to sleep with duct tape on her mouth. A couple days later her and my youngest son are talking about, of all things, morning breath! She precedes to tell him that the reason he has such bad breath in the morning is because stink bugs crawl into his mouth at night and he eats them! Now that’s one heck of an interpretation.

Is it just me, or does anyone else’s kids unwrap something, eat it, throw the wrapper on the floor, and then when you yell at them for it, they look at you like YOU’RE a lunatic? Seriously, this happened to me; my son unwrapped a piece of candy, ate it, threw the wrapper over his shoulder and onto the floor. I then yelled at him for throwing his trash on the floor and he looked at me, bewildered, and said “I didn’t throw that on the floor”. And he said is completly seriously as if he didn’t even know he had done it!!! Unbelievable I know, but at least it’s given me a comic strip.

The very first card I created was a birthday card that I sent to my sister, the cool thing about this is that not only can it help to advertise your product / website and get your name out there, but you can also check the stats of each card. This card has been viewed almost 4400 times and has been sent as an e-card almost 100 times!!! Not bad if you ask me, now if I could figure out a way to actually make some money on this, hmmmmm….. who knows if I make enough of them maybe I could start an actual product line of these things, hmmmmm….. anyway you can check out the first of many Bric-a-Brats e-cards by clicking on the link below.

He’s a pretty savvy guy (must get it from his uncle), he’s also dropping very subtle hints that I need a manager and he’d be more than willing to take on the reponsibility, for a nominal fee of course. Perhaps when I get into the 7 figure salary range for strictly cartooning (the sound you hear is me holding my breath……gasp!) Thank you Robbie for all your computer savvyness I couldn’t LIVE without you.

So without further adoo, for those of you who missed it, this past Monday WCAP 980 AM radio interviewed me about this wonderful comic strip called Bric-a-Brats. If you’d like to listen to it just click on the link below, I thought it went fairly well, and the website had almost 1000 hits that day so I think it paid off in the end.
